Strategic Profits Inc. Announces the Launch of their Electronic Tax Receipting Service
VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 2001--Strategic Profits Inc.
("SPI"), a secure payment service provider since 1997, today announced the
launch of an official, electronic tax receipting (e-receipts) service for
SPI's charity customers.
Registered Charities can now replace paper tax receipts with
electronic tax receipts for donations made online. SPI worked very
closely with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency ("CCRA"), formerly
Revenue Canada, and charitable organization customers in developing
this technology. The SPI e-receipt service meets, or surpasses, all of
the CCRA requirements for issuing official receipts for income tax
purposes. The implementation of SPI's e-receipting service will
provide significant cost saving to charities, by reducing postage
charges and staff processing time.
E-Tax Receipt Procedure
When a donor makes an online donation to a charity using the
service, the donor will receive their official e-receipt as a PDF file
attachment to their donation confirmation email. In order for this
type of receipt to be official and legally issued, the Canada Customs
and Revenue Agency, (the Canadian governments equivalent to the United
States Internal Revenue Services), requires that all e-receipts must
be in an unalterable file format while being identical to the
charities current paper receipts. The PDF file format gives the
security and flexibility required along with the added convenience of
having free PDF viewing software downloadable through links on the
charities own site or directly from the confirmation email containing
the e-receipts. The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency requires that
links to a PDF reader must be provided on participating charities web
sites and within the donation confirmation email. SPI technology also
sends a copy of the e-receipts to the charity for its own records or
to resend should the donor lose or delete the e-receipt file or be
unable to print it.
Included as a feature of the e-receipting package, is custom and
personalized thank you letters as part of the donation confirmation
email. SPI adds a personalization to their e-receipting service, which
helps charities save time and money by eliminating the cost associated
with staff writing personalized thank you letters, or notes to the
donor. Another unique feature of this e-receipting package is an
online donation receipt reconciliation reporting system. This feature
provides charities with an off site secure reconciliation report that
allows instantaneous reconciliation between the charities records of
donations and their receipt numbers.
"Our goal is to help charities tap into the power of Internet
opportunity while reducing their administration costs by providing
affordable, quality e-commerce solutions," said Catherine Clarke
, President and CEO of Strategic Profits Inc. "Our unique
not-for-profit and charity program allows these organizations to
accept credit card and cash donations securely online at significant
savings. Our e-tax receipting program provides charities with
additional and significant costs savings that they require to further
their programs while increasing efficiencies in serving their donors."
CARE Canada
"We subscribe to other charity portals offering an e-receipting
service for online donations however, this one is in a class by
itself," said Brad Robeson, Corporate and Community Relations for CARE
Canada. "The personalization and customization adds that personal
touch that most online services fail to recognize. As well the costs
are significantly cheaper then less sophisticated services."
