Strategic Profits Inc. (SPI), HP Canada, TELUS form alliance to deliver a secure Internet-based credit card payment service

VANCOUVER, BC - February 2, 2001 - Strategic Profits Inc. (SPI), Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Ltd. and TELUS Corporation today announced they have formed an alliance to deliver a secure Internet-based credit card payment service.

The alliance provides organizations of any size, including not-for-profits and charities, access to a best-of-breed payment service, security, hosting, consulting, integration, education and implementation. It is available now on a regional and national basis.

"This alliance demonstrates e-services in action for our customers by bringing the computing utility model to life," said Lynn Anderson, vice president business marketing, HP Canada. "Together we are providing our customers an offering that's as easy to acquire and use as other utilities such as water and electricity. Most importantly, our customers have the confidence of knowing that it's all built on a secure, reliable and always-on Internet infrastructure."

HP Canada is providing the necessary consulting, hardware and software, including two HP 9000 L2000 servers, s, MC/Serviceguard for high availability and Verifone Payworks 3 as the payment engine.

TELUS is hosting the service from its state- of- the-art data centre which is equipped with maximum security, 7 x 24 monitoring, support and high speed Internet connectivity. The service leverages the consulting, integration, education and implementation expertise of Strategic Profits Inc. (SPI) to enable merchants with payment services.

The service eliminates the need to identify and contact the various different vendors, such as consultants, programmers, integrators and payment providers, involved in enabling an online application to take credit cards.

"Our new alliance makes it simple and easy for the customer to call one number and get everything they need to establish online payments," says Catherine Clarke, CEO, Strategic Profits Inc. (SPI). "Businesses can choose from an array of products and services that suit their particular needs. For smaller businesses we offer an all-inclusive bundled start-up package for one low price. Charities can offer donations online with etax receipts. A larger business has the option to mix and match different components based on their needs, assuring the customer of the very best in infrastructure, hosting, security, and service."

"As online services become an increasingly important tool for businesses of all sizes, TELUS' protected and reliable Internet hosting infrastructure is critical for businesses to protect their online brand equity and customer experience," says John Seliga, vice president for TELUS Hosting. "As an industry leader in hosting Web sites and e-business applications, TELUS works to significantly decrease service interruption risks to customers."
