Canadian High Tech Company Teams up with United Nations to provide e-Commerce solutions for
Developing Countries
April 12, 2000 (Vancouver/Ottawa) Vancouver based Strategic Profits Inc. (SPI) has joined forces with the
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to provide cost effective solutions to e-commerce sites in
developing countries. "The goal of this partnership is to help integrate developing nations into the
world economy and the globalization process while promoting the process of sustainable development"
said UNDP project manager, Raul Zambrano. This project falls under the Sustainable Development
Networking Programme (SDNP) administered by the UNDP.
The objectives of the project are: to provide cost effective solutions to e-commerce sites in developing
countries through existing SDNP national nodes and networks; to foster the expansion of small and medium
sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries through training and capacity building on e-business
issues; to expose national producers to the world market, and to support the principles of fair trade.
Strategic Profits Inc. through their Strategic Profits International Foundation will; provide licenses
for the Communitystorefronts.com template portal as well as SME and Not-for-Profit (NGO) e-commerce
solutions for selected SDNP country sites; provide communitystorefronts.com infrastructure, online
training and education in proven internet business and marketing strategies, technical skills training
(train the trainer) in shopping cart software, secure payment/cgi secure forms and web-site authoring
to this project and their clients; to provide a shared digital Certificate set-up for secure payment
transactions; All systems will be compatible with the Linux operating system.
